Daily Journal

A private, dated journal that lives entirely in your browser. Write entries in Markdown, search across everything you've written, and export or import your whole journal as a file. Nothing is ever sent to a server.

How It Works

Daily Journal stores every entry in your browser's localStorage, so your writing stays private and works offline. No data leaves your machine and no account is required. entries persist even after you close the tab.

Writing Entries

Click New Entry to start a journal entry dated today; you can change the date with the date picker. Each date holds one entry, so opening today's date again continues where you left off. Text saves automatically as you type.

Markdown Support

Write in Markdown and switch to the Preview tab to see it formatted. Supported syntax includes # headings, **bold**, *italic*, `code`, fenced code blocks, > quotes, - bullet lists, numbered lists, links, and horizontal rules.

Search

Type in the search box to filter your entries instantly. Search matches both the entry date and the full text of every entry, so you can quickly find a memory or note from any day.

Export, Import & Download

Use Export to download all entries as a single JSON file for backup or transfer to another device, and Import to merge an exported file back in. You can also download any individual entry as a .md Markdown file using the download button in the editor.
